WE LEARN HOW TO
BE WITH OUR SELVES
As we learn how to be with the horses,
I am a life long student of the Horse and a Certified Professional Equine Facilitated Wellness Specialist. Through our services, I create activities to enhance experiences that honours both Horses and humans while guiding participants to explore themselves and see their own light. My work is grounded in Relational Horsemanship, a principle based approach that focuses on understanding ourselves and how our energy affects those around us and the horses. Being with horses can change how we feel about ourselves.
My own journey with horses has been a profound one. Horses help me see my light and walk with me on my path.
For over 35 years, I have worked as a Public and Community Health Nurse in rural and remote communities, providing care for diverse and cross cultural communities and people. My career has included roles as a caregiver, mentor, teacher, supervisor, manager, consultant and lifelong learner. I walk with people as they find their own path to health and wellness, guiding them towards greater self-awareness and understanding. This philosophy informs the way I approach all aspects of my life. I have spent years working with youth and horses through a variety of horse camps and as a leader for Whitehorse 4H Spirit Riders horse Club. I currently provide Horse family support for Heart Bar Ranch and Yukon First Nations Youth and Family programs. I provide Equine First Aid Training for all ages of horse enthusiasts.
Combining my love of nursing with my passion for horses, I help youth and adults develop confidence, leadership and self awareness through the activities and courses we offer. These activities are built around meaningful horse human connection experiences.
What do horses
MEAN TO ME?
Horses are exceptional beings unto themselves. They have an awareness and connectivity to surrounding energy. This is displayed by their remarkable sensitivity and perceptiveness that can offer valuable insight and support for people. Spending time with horses outside in the natural world is just good for the soul, simplistic fun.
I believe people can experience their own meaningful connections while in the presence of horses. The horses and I strive to create a safe space for the experience and learning to happen. Through the co-creation of this experience, people can enter into a space where they can begin their own journey of connection.
We build on strengths while facing challenges with curiosity and courage.
Providing a relational space for people to interact with a Horse can “shift” their understanding of themselves.
There is always a flow between a structured activity and letting go of the structure in order to step into the flow of what might be. In order to wholly facilitate and explore learning, the Horses and I step in with the intention to the hold the space and allow the energetic connection to develop through the participant’s own experience.
While I'm not a mental health provider, I recognize and honour the safe and supportive environment that horses create for self-expression and reflection. Being around horses, people may feel and express deep feelings. I collaborate with a variety of health and complimentary professionals to ensure that all participants have access to any additional care they may need for a supportive holistic experience.
I invite you to explore meaningful connection with horses and to discover your own path while in partnership with these extraordinary beings…
